Janani (Pregnancy)

Parenting & Human Development

What happens in the first thousand days shapes the next thirty thousand. We work with that understanding.

What is Janani?

Janani is Damaru's work with pregnancy, parenting, and human development.
The premise is simple. The first thousand days of life, from conception through the second year, are the foundational developmental window for everything that follows. The nervous system, the immune system, the emotional baseline, the capacity to regulate and to learn. All of it begins here.
Our work integrates the traditional framework of Garbha Samskara with contemporary research in epigenetics and developmental neuroscience. So you do not simply pass through pregnancy. You shape it, consciously.

The First 3 Thousand Days

From conception to a child’s second birthday, the first thousand days, the human brain and nervous system undergo their fastest period of development in the entire lifespan.

Over the next 2,000 days—as your child approaches age 8—more than 90% of the brain’s physical structure is complete, and the subconscious mind forms its core emotional blueprint.

Treat this golden window as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build your child’s intelligence, resilience, and potential.

Till the child turns one, what the mother experiences, the child experiences with her. Her nervous system, her nourishment, her emotional environment, the quality of her rest. All of it reaches the developing child.

This is not a metaphor. It is developmental science. And it is precisely what the yogic tradition understood, thousands of years ago, through Garbha Samskara.

Janani is built around this understanding right through pregnancy till your child becomes a teen and then into a young adult.

The foundation underneath all of Janani

Garbha Samskara is the ancient practice. Epigenetic priming is the modern science. They describe the same truth in two languages.

At Damaru, we teach both. One gives the practice its roots. The other gives it its evidence.

Our Pregnancy Yoga, Children Yoga and Teen Workshops are designed around 3 pillars of wellness science, value education and cultural rooting for the young moms and children, keeping the current urban lifestyle in mind.
